60th Birthday at Del’Aziz Clapham

Anne Marie booked Los Amigos trio for her mum’s 60th, and chose the lovely Del’Aziz in Clapham, London to celebrate the party.

During the interval I had the chance to meet a very special guest, the comedy genius and sex god Earl Okin, who played a few songs during the interval. Although he appears grumpy in the picture, he is a very friendly man.

A fantastic night, Anne Marie would say: “Guys that was fantastic everybody loved you!”

Javier Moreno is the winner of Vocalist of the year category at the LUKAS AWARDS 2014

Congratulations to the very own Los Amigos Band singer and guitarist Javier Moreno for being the winner of the LUKAS AWARDS 2014 in the category of Vocalist of the year. Javier has also been selected as Runner up as Musician of the year.

The Latin-UK AwardS (LUKAS) is the world’s first ever awards ceremony to recognise the contribution of Britain’s one million Latin American, Spanish and Portuguese residents. It is a fantastic, colourful, and entertaining celebration of Britain’s rapid growing passion for all things Latino.

The LUKAS is now in its 3rd year and growing astonishingly quickly. After a spectacular 2nd year that saw ballet star Tamara Rojo, fashion queen Vivienne Westwood, and Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour join our presenters, TV stars Boris Izaguirre and Yanet Fuentes, in congratulating the award winners, the LUKAS gala ceremony has grown into an international event.

The LUKAS 2013 became the most media covered Latin event in UK history. It made national TV news in the UK (BBC), Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, on Latin regional channels such as ESPN and UNIVISION. It was covered by more than 90 press, radio and TV media and 6,000 social media and websites, reaching over 10 million people. Whilst the UK voted for its favourite Latin dancers, musicians, footballers and restaurants, the global media coverage created a surge of voting from Latin America itself, each country supporting its footballers and compatriots abroad.

Rififi Club

Confirmed, Los Amigos Band + special guests will be performing every Wednesday night in April at the exclusive Rififi Club in Mayfair, London.

Arkady Novikov, the Russian restaurateur and owner of the “members only” Club came to our first night to see the band live, and enjoyed very much our music.

Even an enthusiastic client gave us a £300 tip, not bad!

Alissia’s 21st Birthday

A lovely Sunday afternoon solo gig in a private residence in Bromley.

Anita asked me to play for her goddaughter, who is a fan of Enrique Iglesias, so I especially prepared the song “Hero” for her.

Here are Anita’s words:

“Dear Javier, we all want to say a big thank you to you for entertaining us so wonderfully yesterday afternoon.  We had so many compliments as everybody left saying how much they enjoyed you, you made David and Alissia’s birthdays very special.  I couldn’t think of a nicer way to spend a sunday afternoon! And, Hero was amazing, you should definitely add that to your repertoire.” Anita & Nic 30/03/14

Charity party in favour of Cancer Research UK

Last night we rocked in a fantastic party to raise money for Cancer Research at Kingston Working Men’s Club. Together with other great acts such Libby Shone & her Band and Simon Whyatt, Los Amigos trio put on a great show, and you can see in the pictures, we got everyone dancing.

Half of the money of all our CD sales were donated to Cancer Research, and here you have a thank you message from the organizers Peter and Anna:

“Hi Javier and Los Amigos
So many thanks for your great set last night, everyone loved it. I haven’t seen so many of my British friends get up and dance for years. When you are our age you rarely get the opportunity. It was just what was needed and we do hope next year to have an anniversary party and would love to book you again. I hope you get plenty of work from the party, you deserve it.
Lovely to meet you, all the best Anna and Peter”

Engagement party

This was a very special event for Los Amigos taking part in a Sudanese engagement celebration in London. On this occasion, performing as a duo, the guests starting dancing right away from our first song, and we put much energy and enthusiasm seeing everyone enjoying themselves.

It was interesting to see that some of our Spanish and Latin songs had an Arabic version, so all the guests were singing along. I have to say that Sudanese food is truly wonderful!

Dina Gillespie, who booked us, sent me this nice message the day after:

“Dear Javier,

I just wanted to write to say a massive thank you for providing us with such an enjoyable evening. Your class shone through, and you rocked the house! Everyone was very complimentary of your music, and I couldn’t have wished for the evening to have gone any better.

Many thanks and all the best for the future,
Dina”
